First off I would like to wish all the members of Company 1 a very Merry Christmas and a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. This year has been filled with a lot of up and downs with training from the beginning As we start to look into 2012 I ask that all members stop for a moment reassess the reason why they joined this company in the first place and if their views and ideas have changed over the course of becoming a member at the Fountain Hose. If there are any problems first I ask that you come to an officer or the training officer with any problems concerns and most of all any training ideas. With that said I am hoping for a new attitude coming into the new year. We have a lot of new members willing to train and learn new topics. Over the next month the training division of the Fountain Hose will be meeting to set a training calendar for the 2012 training sessions. Any input is always welcomed. Please make suggestions to the training officer or member apart of the training division of the firehouse.
Training
2012 Training Schedule is in the process of being created. It will be released beginning of the New Year. We will be working on doing a mandatory training session the Second Tuesday of every month with supplemental drills throughout the remaining Tuesdays. We will be performing the mandatory yearly recerts throughout the year so that we do not have to come to crunch time at the end of the year. Please attempt to attend the drills. It is very hard to put a drill on for two people at the firehouse. A lot of TIME and EFFORT go into planning the drills.
Topics to be discussed in 2011
Utility Safety
Basic Engine Company Operations
SCBA
Haz-Mat
Infectious Control
Ladders
Rope Safety
Fire Scene Safety
Size-up
Scene Survey
Radio Operations
Metering
Apparatus Equipment Inspections and Operations
Apparatus Equipment Checks
Round Table/Apparatus Floor Discussions.
I know the past several months there has not been many training classes provided due to some personal reasons. However, we are going to start a regular training schedule with intermittent breaks a long the way to prevent from burn out and other problems. Please try to attend the majority of training sessions for if we do not get enough people we can not provide the drills.
