People use candles for many different things around the holiday seasons. Candles are used to decorated the dinner table and shed light amongst family and friends at the dinner table. Other might use candles to help freshen up the house with nice holiday scents such as pine to make their house smell like a fresh Christmas Tree and other my burn Grandma's Home Baked Sugar Cookies to make their house smell like some good old home baked cookies as if they just came out of the oven. However, while these candles are used for pleasant things they can also cause a world of headaches if they are left lite unattended.
Candles should never be left lite unattended. If you will no longer be occupying the room in which the candle is lite get into the habit of blowing out the candle prior to leaving if no one else will be in the room.
Candles should never be left lite while you are away from the home. If you lite a candle while you are in the house then make sure that you double check all the candles in your house prior to leaving. And try to burn candles in common areas such as the kitchen and living room. Avoid use of candles in your bedroom or any bedroom of the house.

Keep away from the reach of Children who may be able knock it down or playing with it
Keep the candles away from where pets may walk and pay to avoid them from knocking over the candle

Remember that a candle is lite and make sure that you extinguish the candle when:
You leave your house
You Go to bed
when you leave a room
